OUR VISION
We desire to see people saved from the bondage of sin, growing in the likeness of Jesus Christ, and equipped, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to extend God’s loving touch to a lost and dying world.
OUR IMPACT
The passion for evangelism that compelled a handful of believers to pitch a tent for church services at the corner of German School and Bliley Roads in 1946 remains the driving force at JRBC today. In the fall of that year property was purchased, a building was completed in 1948, and Jahnke Road Chapel was constituted as a church in 1950. Countless lives have been and are being impacted today by the faithful ministry of the JRBC family in extending the touch of Jesus into its community and around the world.

BASIC BELIEFS
The Scriptures. The Bible is God’s revelation of Himself to man, written by divinely inspired men. God is its author, salvation is its purpose, and it is totally true and trustworthy, without any mixture of error.
God. There is only one living and true God. He reveals Himself to us as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, each with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being. God as Father reigns with providential care over His universe, His creatures, and the flow human history according to the purposes of His grace. Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. In His incarnation, He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a perfect life and, through His substitutionary death on the cross, made provision for the redemption of men from sin. The Holy Spirit of God exalts Christ, convicts men of sin, and enlightens and empowers the believer and the church in worship, evangelism, and service.
Man. Man is created by God in His own image. He created male and female as the crowning work of His creation. By his free choice man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. Each and every person possesses dignity and is worthy of respect and Christian love.
Salvation. Salvation is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Those whom God has accepted in Christ, and sanctified by His Spirit, will never fall away from grace and will persevere to the end.
Baptism & the Lord’s Supper. Christian baptism, the immersion of a believer in water, is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. The Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act whereby believers memorialize the death of the Jesus and anticipate His second coming.
Family. God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. It is composed of persons related to one another by marriage, blood or adoption. Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. The husband and wife are of equal worth before God, since both are created in God’s image. Children, from the moment of conception, are a blessing and heritage from the Lord. For more information on what we believe, please download our full doctrinal statement here.

WHAT WILL MY FIRST VISIT BE LIKE?
Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God. – Romans 15:7
We understand the many questions that might be on your mind as you consider visiting a new church, so here’s a snapshot of what you can expect. We’d love to have you as our guest!
Where do I park? JRBC is located at 6023 Jahnke Road in Richmond, Virginia. Guests may park in reserved spots just a few steps from the main entrance. Someone will be at the front door to greet you with a friendly smile, a welcome packet and answers to your questions.
What do I wear? You will see some folks dressed in their “Sunday best” and some in jeans, so we invite you to come as you are.
What’s the schedule? Sunday School classes for all ages meet at 9:45am. Our worship service is relatively traditional in style with a Bible-focused message and lasts about an hour. A nursery is available for infants and small children.
HOW DO I MEET PEOPLE?
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another . . . – Hebrews 10:24-25
We welcome people of all ages, backgrounds, occupations and ethnic groups to be a part of our church family! Below are just a few of the ways you can meet new friends and get connected at JRBC.
Sunday School. Sunday mornings begin at 9:30 with the “Gathering” – a time for sharing church news and prayer concerns over a cup of coffee or tea and, on some Sundays, a donut or two. Then, beginning at 9:45, children, youth and adults meet with their peers for Bible study, prayer and fellowship in classes designed to inspire learning and encourage participation. A nursery is provided for infants and toddlers.
Sunday Worship Service. Beginning at 11:00, our church family and our guests gather together for praise, followed by an inspired teaching from God’s Word for youth and adults and a Children’s Church service for elementary children. A nursery is provided for infants and toddlers. Children’s Church for grades K-5 meets on the second and fourth Sundays. And, after service, don’t feel like you have to rush off. We’d love to get to know you better and answer any questions you may have about our church community.
Midweek Service. Wednesday night provides a more casual time of worship and study. This 6:30 service begins with a song or two and a sharing time and ends with a Bible study led by the Pastor, or, occasionally, a guest speaker. Choir practice follows at 7:30, and we’d love to have you join us if you have a heart for music ministry! No musical experience or audition are required.
Ladies Ministries. There are two primary opportunities for ladies to gather at JRBC – and both offer a great opportunity for gals to get to know each other better. Our chapter of the Women’s Missionary Union (WMU), a group focused on missions awareness and participation, meets on the first Sunday of each month, immediately following service. Lunch is provided. During lunch, we discuss opportunities for missions projects. After lunch, we enjoy a missions-focused program. A ladies Bible study, Body & Soul, meets at 10am each Thursday morning.
Men’s Ministries. Many men of our church regularly attend a Tuesday night men’s group, Man-to-Men Mentors, originally founded by Pastor Chuck Craddock, which meets at 7:00pm in the JRBC Fellowship Hall. This ecumenical group, made up of ages teen and above, provides guys from all walks of life the opportunity to meet for in-depth study, support and encouragement. They also actively engage in community outreach and other special ministry projects. Also, Man-to-Men Only meets at JRBC at 12:15pm on the first Sunday of each month for Bible study, discussion and snacks.
Other Opportunities. There are many other opportunities to “do life together” at JRBC. Here are just a few of our favorites:
• Fall Fish Fry – a family dinner with fresh fish and all the fixin’s
• Special Thanksgiving and Christmas events, including community outreach events
• A Valentine’s Breakfast cooked by the gentlemen for the ladies
• Vacation Bible School in July – including casual hot dog dinner kick-off
• Church work days – with lunch provided
• Monthly Ginter Hall worship service outreach
• Joint concerts with other area choirs
WHERE CAN I SERVE?
Through love serve one another. – Galatians 5:13
We seek to follow the standard set by Jesus through selflessly serving each other, our community and the world. Our church family is involved in a variety of ministries that range from picking up trash in the parking lot to serving in foreign missions. Here are just a few ways you can use your time and God-given talents to serve at JRBC.
Prayer Warriors. We put prayer at the top of our list because it’s value cannot be overestimated! Our church is dependent upon and committed to regular, frequent and intentional prayer. Throughout the week, volunteers from our prayer team pray for our pastor, church leaders, a list of church members, any special requests, and missionary prayer needs.
Missions Outreach. JRBC is passionate about spreading God’s kingdom around the world. We encourage everyone in our church family to respond to God’s call for laborers, whether it means that they move to a foreign country or live and minister in our own community.
Performing and Creative Arts. We believe God intends for us to use our gifts and talents to glorify Him. In addition to congregational praise and worship, there are numerous opportunities for vocalists, instrumentalists, and other creative artists to participate in services and other church ministries and events. If you enjoy singing with a group, our Sanctuary Choir, which rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 is a great place to begin!
Hospitality Committee. At JRBC, we practice the gift of hospitality! This important committee coordinates JRBC “in-reach” and “out-reach” – organizing, staffing and facilitating a variety of hospitality services including, making guests feel welcome, providing meals to those in distress or crisis, supporting other JRBC ministry groups with hospitality services.
Homebound Connection. We value our homebound members who, in the short term or long term, are not able to be with us in regular services. Homebound Connection keeps homebound members advised of JRBC news and events, regularly supplies them with audio recordings of services and events, and offers opportunities for continued significant contributions to JRBC community life through their prayer support of JRBC services and ministries, as well as visitation contact.
Other Opportunities. Some of the many other ways to serve include:
• Ushering and greeting
• Maintenance of grounds and building
• Transportation for children or those unable to drive
• Technical assistance (audio, visual, computer, social media)
• Audio and visual technicians
• Kitchen workers
• Ministry to the sick, elderly and homebound
• Nursery workers (once vetted)
• Sunday School and Bible study teachers (once vetted)
• Children and youth leaders (once vetted)
• Joint concerts with other area choirs
